Title: Monitoring the Coverage of Gender Issues in Media outlets in Kurdistan Region

Gender issues represent the topic of the first stage of the project. This report attempts at delineating the coverage of gender issues by the 17 media outlets in Kurdistan that are included in the sample.

The sources of data for the analysis are the results of the a questionnaire form that is used to explore the following four areas:

1.   Those articles and pieces were identified that addressed the laws and regulations pertaining to gender issues.

2.   To what extent did the piece covered identified gender issues as its main topic.

3.   To what extent did the piece focused on gender equalities and inequalities.

4.  To what extent do the covered piece agrees with the common societal understanding of gender issues and the extent to which it refutes the common traditional views of gender issues.
