KIE Delegation Visits Parliament of Kurdistan

A delegation of Kurdish Institute for Elections KIE paid a visit to the Sulaimaniyah office of Iraqi Kurdistan Region Parliament on Tuesday, 1 of August, 2017 and was welcome by the Speaker of Parliament and a number of different parliament fractions.
The visit was to submit a public policy paper underlined “problems of allocation seats for the ethnic and religious minorities in Kurdistan Region”.
In the meeting, content of the mentioned paper was comprehensively discussed paying attention to the activities of KIE in regard to democracy and warranty of representative of the minorities in the elected assembly, while the parliamentarians asserted that the paper is a vital effort to guarantee the minority rights.
Following the meeting, a press conference, attended by print, visual and radio media was held for the KIE delegation and head of the parliament office in which light was shed on queries of the media regarding the pubic policy paper.
It’s worth mentioned that this event is part of a joint project of Kurdish Institute for Elections KIE and Project On Middle East Democracy POMED.
